The first confirmed details have emerged for Neil Young's 'Archives Volume One,' which is shaping up to be a landmark Blu-ray music release against which all others will be judged.

As previously reported, the rock legend announced ambitious plans earlier this year to release his entire back catalog on Blu-ray in multiple, extensive special edition box sets, though there were no street date or specs.

Now the first official word has come in, with 'Neil Young: Archives Volume One (1963-1972)' tentatively set for a February 24 street date through Warner Music Group.

Spanning ten discs, the set will boast no less than 128 tracks, among them 43 unreleased songs and 13 never-before-heard by the public.

Also included are two complete live albums, "Live At The Fillmore East" and "Live At Massey Hall 1971."

Video extras feature the full-length documentary "Journey Through the Past."

Rounding out this impressive Blu-ray release is a 236-page hardcover book, plus lyrics written by Neil Young, newspaper articles, letters and a Young timeline.

Suggested retail price for the box set has been set at $431.99.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Neil Young: Archives Volume One (1963-1972)' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under February 24.

Warner has announced it will bring the Hilary Swank romantic comedy 'P.S. I Love You' to Blu-ray and HD DVD this May.

Grossing over $50 million at the domestic box office, the Richard LaGravenese-directed film emerged as the sleeper hit of the holiday season, despite less-than-kind critical notices.

Warner will bring 'P.S. I Love You' to Blu-ray on May 6 (day-and-date with the standard DVD), followed by an HD DVD version three weeks later on May 27.

Extras shared across all versions include two featurettes ("A Conversation with Cecilia Ahern," "The Name of the Game is Snaps"), deleted scenes, and a James Blunt music video. There were no high-def exclusives reported at press time.

Warner has not yet announced tech specs, but we'll keep you posted.

Suggested retail prices for both the Blu-ray and HD DVD editions have been set at $35.98 each.

Previously only available on high-def as part of the three-disc 'Ocean's Giftset,' Warner has announced it will issue the first two installments in Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's series as standalone Blu-ray and HD DVD release this Spring.

According to the studio, 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'Ocean's Twelve' will hit stores on Blu-ray April 29, with the HD DVD version following three weeks later on May 20. (Note that 'Ocean's Thirteen' is already available individually, having been issued as a separate release day-and-date with the 'Giftset.')

Specs for the standalone versions of the star-studded heist flicks will mirror those found in the box set. Both films enjoy 1080p/VC-1 video, and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks (at 640kbps) and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Japanese.

UPDATE: In our original post, we incorrectly identified 'Ocean's Twelve' as only including trailers as a bonus feature. The disc actually includes a number of high-def exclusives, and we've updated the post and our database accordingly. We apologize for the error.

Extras on 'Eleven' features an audio commentary with director Steven Soderbergh and writer Ted Griffin, an additional cast commentary with Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Andy Garcia, the "look of the Con" featurette, an HBO First Look Special, and more trailers.

Bonus features on 'Twelve' include theatrical trailers, and as with the previous 'Giftset' version, a number of exclusives: audio commentary with Soderbergh and the screenwriter, deleted scenes, and an HBO First Look Special.

Suggested retail for the standalone versions of 'Eleven' and 'Twelve' has been set at $28.95 a peice.

You'll find specs for 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'Ocean's Twelve' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, where they are indexed under April 29 and May 20, respectively.

Answering the call for more Japanese horror remakes on high-def disc, Warner has announced a spring dual-format release of the Edward Burns-starrer 'One Missed Call.'

A remake of the Japanese chiller 'Chakushin Ari,' 'One Missed Call' scraped up meager returns at the box office this past January, setting the stage for a speedy trip to video. In keeping with their current dual-format release strategy, Warner has set an April 22 arrival for the Blu-ray (day-and-date with the standard-def DVD), followed three weeks later by the HD DVD/DVD combo on May 13.

Tech specs shared by both high-def versions include identical 1080p/VC-1 encodes, and English, French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio and subtitle options.

No supplements have been announced for either high-def format, or the standard-def DVD.

Suggested retail for the Blu-ray and HD DVD/DVD combo has been set at $35.98 a pop.

You'll find complete specs for 'One Missed Call' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, where it's indexed under its respective street dates of April 22 and May 13.

Warner: HD DVD Plans Unchanged

You may have a hard time finding an HD DVD player to play them on, but Warner says it will continue to issue HD DVD discs through the end of May.

Though the studio declined comment on Toshiba's announcement that it would abandon the HD DVD format, a Warner rep tells us that the studio intends to continue releasing titles on both Blu-ray and HD DVD through the end of May.

The studio even went so far as to announce a new dual-format release Tuesday -- the direct-to-video title 'Sublime,' which it said would hit HD DVD on May 13, three weeks after its planned Blu-ray bow on April 22.

At press time, the majority of remaining titles on the HD DVD release schedule were split between Warner and Paramount/DreamWorks. Notably, Universal (which announced its own intention to back Blu-ray Tuesday morning) has only one announced forthcoming HD DVD release -- 'Fletch,' which as of this writing is still scheduled to hit stores March 13.

Warner Re-Announces 'Song Remains the Same' Blu-ray, HD DVD (UPDATED)

Mon Feb 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM ET
Tags: Street Date Changes, Warner (all tags)

UPDATE 02/13/08: We've received word from Warner Home Video that the HD DVD version of 'The Song Remains the Same' will fall under its three-week transtion window, and its new street date is now March 18. We've updated our database accordingly.

After a series of street date delays, Warner has announced a late February Blu-ray and HD DVD arrival for the Led Zeppelin's concert classic 'The Song Remains the Same.'

Originally planned for release in November of last year (day-and-date on Blu-ray, HD DVD and standard-def), Warner subsequently delayed 'The Song Remains the Same' on all formats by three weeks. That new December street date didn't last long, however, with the studio again yanking the title from its release schedule only days before it was due to hit stores.

High-def copies of 'The Song Remains the Same' weren't impossible to find, however, as numerous reports surfaced online that Blu-ray and HD DVD stock had still appeared at several online and traditional retailers.

Now Led Zeppelin fans who have been unable to snag an early copy can mark February 26 on their calendars, as Warner will finally bow the long-delayed disc across all formats (according the studio's press announcement, the HD DVD version of 'The Song Remains the Same' will not be affected by the studio's three-week transition window).

Previously announced specs remain unchanged, with both the Blu-ray and HD DVD versions set to include 1080p/VC-1 video and audio options in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround.

Supplemental features include over 40 minutes worth of additional material, including never-released performance footage of "Over The Hills And Far Away" and "Celebration Day," plus the bonus cuts "Misty Mountain Hop" and "The Ocean." Other extras include a rare 1976 BBC interview with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, vintage TV footage and the theatrical trailer.

Retail also remains the same, with the Blu-ray and HD DVD listing for a suggested $28.95 each.

You'll find disc details for 'Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, where it's indexed under its new date of February 26.

Warner Unveils Specs, Cover Art for 'I Am Legend'

The worst-kept secret in high-def is now official, with Warner confirming an early Spring arrival for the Will Smith blockbuster 'I Am Legend' on Blu-ray and HD DVD.

As we've previously reported, details for a high-def release of 'I Am Legend' were inadvertently revealed last month when Warner sent early promotional materials to retailers ahead of an official announcement.

Now the studio has confirmed full specs and street dates for the update of the classic sci-fi tale, with the Blu-ray due March 18 (day-and-date with the standard DVD), and the HD DVD/DVD combo to follow three weeks later on April 8.

Announced bonus features are surprisingly slim for a blockbuster that has grossed over $500 million worldwide (and counting). Extras to be shared across all versions include a full-length alternate version of the movie with never-before-seen "controversial" ending, plus four interactive comic books inspired by the film ("Death As a Gift," "Isolation," "Sacrificing the Few for the Many," "Shelter").

Tech specs on both high-def editions include 1080p video and high-res audio in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround.

Finally, Warner has revealed high-res box art for 'I Am Legend' on both high-def disc formats:

Warner has set a suggested list price of $35.98 for both the Blu-ray and the HD DVD/DVD combo versions.

As always, you'll find updated specs for 'I Am Legend' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, where the disc is indexed under March 18 and April 8, respectively.
