'UFO: Showtime' Bound for HD DVD

Legendary British rockers UFO are launching their first-ever HD DVD release this April, with the release of the live concert extravaganza 'Showtime.'
Recorded in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, 'the 2005 live concert sees the reunited headbangers playing selections from their latest album "You Are Here," alongside all of their classic rock hits, complete with a state-of-the-art lightshow and thousands of screaming fans.
Originally released as a two-disc DVD in 2006 by SPV Records, the indie distributor is planning an even more elaborate package for the disc's HD DVD debut on April 8, 2008.
Extras shared with the former DVD include two documentaries, six bonus songs, additional band interviews, a still gallery and discography.
Exclusive to the high-def version will be previously-unreleased studio recordings, an additional documentary on the band's 2004 American tour, and more interviews with the band.
Tech specs weren't available at press time, but we'll keep you posted.
Suggested retail for the HD DVD has been set at $29.98.

Motorhead to Rock HD DVD with 'Stage Fright'

Already released in Europe, SPV Records says the feature-packed HD DVD edition of Motorhead: Stage Fright' is bound for the States this October.
Documenting a stop on the group's sold-out 2004 tour, 'Stage Fright' showcasing the legendary (and very loud) metal band blasting through over twenty of their best-known songs.
Indie music distributor SPV is pulling out all the stops for its maiden high-def title, which has already been released to rave reviews overseas. Not only will 'Stage Fright' hit HD DVD on October 23 boasting all of the bonus materials included on the previous US-released DVD edition, but it will also include several cutting-edge features exclusive to the next-gen version.
Among the standard-def extras are audio commentary with the band, a full-length documentary with extensive historical interviews, a fan testimonial featurette, slide show and discography.
New to the HD DVD is picture-in-picture video commentary with the band, plus three innovative features never-before-seen on a high-def title (music or otherwise). Utilizing the HD DVD format's HDi authoring environment, 'Stage Fright' will allow users to take their own "snapshots" from the video portion of the concert and create a custom still gallery, as well as arrange their own setlist. Additional web-enabled content features will round out the set.
Tech specs include the complete concert presented in its original 1.78:1 aspect ratio and 1080p video, with DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 surround.
SPV has set a $29.98 list price for the set.
