The Warren Beatty-Faye Dunaway crime classic will make its high-def debut when Warner releases a first-ever special edition of the film this March on Blu-ray and and HD DVD.
One of the most highly influential films of the '60s and the winner of multiple Oscars, 'Bonnie & Clyde' was one of Warner's initial bare-bones launch titles on DVD way back in March of 1997, but hasn't seen a significant re-issue since then. Long one of the studio's most requested catalog titles to receive the special edition treatment, Warner will at last give the classic its due on March 25, 2008 with a day-and-date bow on Blu-ray, HD DVD and two-disc standard DVD.
Extras to be shared among all versions include the new retrospective documentary "Revolution! The Making of 'Bonnie & Clyde'", the History Channel TV special "Love and Death: The Story of Bonnie and Clyde", plus never-before-seen deleted scenes and wardrobe tests.
Tech specs have not yet been announced for the Blu-ray or HD DVD, but Warner is billing this edition as "newly remastered," so we certainly expect a new transfer. We'll keep you posted.
Warner has set a suggested list price of $28.98 for the next-gen versions.
