Paramount has unveiled specs for the highly-anticipated HD DVD release of David Fincher's 'Zodiac,' and as promised the two-disc set will be overflowing with bonus features.
After yanking a bare-bones version of 'Zodiac' from the studio's summer high-def release schedule, Paramount recently rescheduled the HD DVD for a January 8, 2008-- this time as a fully-loaded two-disc special edition. Guided by the hands-on input of legendary perfectionist Fincher, this newly-retooled 'Zodiac' will be the most feature-packed high-def release from Paramount yet, seemingly delivering everything a 'Zodiac' fan could ask for.
Among the confirmed extras are two audio commentaries (one featuring a solo Fincher, plus a second track including stars Jake Gyllenhall and Robert Downey Jr.), the "Zodiac Deciphered" documentary, five additional featurettes, "Sequence Breakdowns" of three key scenes in the film, a trailer gallery, and extensive "Background Files" with detailed historical data and behavioral profiles on the real-life Zodiac killer.
Tech specs include 1080p/VC-1 video and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround audio (at 1.5mbps). At presstime, Paramount had not indicated any high-res audio tracks, but we'll keep you posted if any further changes are announced.
Retail for the HD DVD is $39.98.
